The Somerset Rec Club Swim Team is a family-based swim team committed to providing a well-rounded swim experience balancing community, sportsmanship, and overall enjoyment with high quality instruction, individual skill development, a positive and competitive team environment.
The coaches strive to help swimmers enhance all four competitive strokes, improve racing techniques, build self-confidence, become good team members, and learn that winning and succeeding are not always the same thing. The Somerset Swim Team hopes to provide motivation, instruction, fun times, and support for all team members.
The Somerset Stingrays are a member of the Midlakes Swim League that understands that athletics plays a role in the development of young people as they learn teamwork, cooperation, and respect for others. The league is divided into five Divisions, each with five or six teams. Somerset is a Division II club.

Megan is so excited to be back for her fourth summer with such a wonderful team! Megan grew up in the Bellevue area and began her swimming career with Midlakes when she was 5. She swam on Bellevue Club Swim Team for 10 years and later competed for Interlake High School. Megan has just graduated from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. She will be spending next year living in Atlanta, Georgia working towards a master’s degree in Education. Megan also just finished her senior season competing on the swim team for Catholic University with Coach Claire! When Megan is not in the pool, she loves to spend time with friends and family, read, and travel. She is looking forward to another fun swim season! Go Stingrays!
It is Claire’s first year being an assistant coach for Somerset Swim Team. Growing up swimming in York, Pennsylvania, she swam on York YMCA’s club swim team for 7 years, learning about the importance of dedication and hard work both in and out of the pool. Claire then continued her swim career while earning a B.S. in Architecture with a Minor in Sustainability on the Catholic University of America’s Swim Team. Here she met many of her closest friends, including Coach Megan, and took on the responsibilities of team captain her senior year. Claire hopes to help build a successful team this season and have fun along the way! Go Stingrays!
Katie is thrilled to coaching for the Somerset Stingrays for her 4th summer. She grew up in Bellevue, starting swimming with Midlakes when she was 6. She went on to swim with Bellevue Club Swim Team, and then for Interlake High School. She graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, in May 2022 with a BA in both Early Childhood and Special Education, and a minor in Dance. When not at the pool, Katie loves to read, knit, hike, and cook. She is excited to settle back in the Seattle area, is planning on teaching elementary school, and got married last year! She is so excited to get to be a part of such an awesome team for another season! Go Stingrays!!
